Designers Pratik And Priyanka Presented "Indian Me Fusion" With Refashioned Traditional Indian Weaves At Stage One During Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016

Indian designers are known for their ardour for India's rich heritage of traditional weaves. The 'I AM DESIGN' label by Pratik and Priyanka presented "Indian me Fusion" that rekindled this romance with its modern interpretation of the craft at Stage One during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016. The exploration encompassed an unconventional yet innovative portrayal of the motifs and weaves.

The beautifully crafted colour palette, which consisted of pastel shades of mint, peach, pink infused with ivory and light blue, complemented the season perfectly, combined with a dash of black and mustard to add an edge. The collection also saw a hint of gold, which conformed to LAKME's 'ILLUMINATE' theme for Spring/Summer 2016. A melangé of silhouettes graced the ramp that channelized a strong sense of free spiritedness.

Fabrics such as silk, linen and cotton silk were used to achieve unconventional fusions. The novelty of the eco-friendly gold discharge printing and unique dyeing technique was used to create an interesting illusion of weaves on the garments. The subtle accents of embroidery further enhanced the look of the collection.

An ombré pink and orange sari with fringed pallu worn with a corset was teamed with a leather backpack. A light grey and peach ankle length dress featured a pleated panel that looked breezy and comfortable.

The use of fringes, the season's hottest trend, and creatively placed pleats, piqued the interest of the audience.

Actress Urvashi Rautela, of the "Sanam Re" fame, looked graceful in an ombré pink and orange lehenga with gold discharge prints and a sleeveless, cropped fusion choli, with an innovative dupatta. As she swirled around, the audience got a view of the interesting cut-out at the back. Featuring a collar and pleated detailing on the shoulder, the ensemble looked traditional in a non-conformist way.

"Indian me Fusion" by Pratik and Priyanka for their label 'I AM DESIGN'    had an effortlessly elegant vibe, which is well-suited for the modern woman who can don both; traditional and contemporary attire with ease.

The carefully crafted colour palette, which consisted of shades of vivid blue and wine, Helio's colour tones and incense hues, was dedicated to the starlit skyline.

Asymmetrical hemlines, multi-textured layers, accentuated cuts, bodices and contemporary blazers dominated the silhouettes of the eveningwear line. It all made for an intense show. The use of complementing accessories like Avant-Garde fascinators further enhanced the sartorial masterpieces.
