JACKKY BHAGNANI ATTENDS PREMIERE OF 'HE NAMED ME MALALA' IN NEW YORK


 Dressed in a dapper suit, Actor Jackky Bhagnani walked the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York for the star studded premiere of the Malala Yousafzai documentary, 'He named me Malala.' Jackky who met Malala and her family in Birmingham, U.K, earlier this month was a special guest of the Yousafzais at the NYC premiere.

"Attending this premiere was very important for me. Malala and the causes she espouses are very close to my heart. I believe it is important for everyone in India to watch this film. There is a lot of work to be done for education of the girl child in India and this film will inspire parents to ensure their daughters are educated," said Jackky Bhagnani after the premiere.


Also present at the Ziegfeld Theatre were the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Alicia Keys, Hope Solo, Zosia Mamet, and Ivanka Trump, daughter of U.S Presidential hopeful Donald Trump. Fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson and musician Raury also made their way to the red carpet joining actress Elizabeth Shue and actor Andrew Shue, and United Arab Emirates' Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba.

"He Named Me Malala" has been directed by acclaimed filmmaker Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for Superman). The film is an intimate portrait of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, who was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded by a gunshot when returning home on her school bus in Pakistan's Swat Valley in 2012. The then 15-year-old was singled out, along with her father Ziauddin Yousafzai, for advocating girls' education. The attack on Malala sparked an outcry from supporters across the globe.

The documentary releases in theatres across the United States on October 2nd.
