MTV unleashes the queen's rule upon television with the launch of 'Panasonic Smart Phones MTV Splitsvilla Season 9 – Where Women Rule'

And the young kingdom of MTV is back again with the most watched game of love on Indian television, this time around, in the form of a royal affair - Panasonic Smart Phones MTV Splitsvilla. In its ninth season, the show will be hosted by none other than the Queen of Hearts Sunny Leone and the Knight in Shining Armour Rannvijay Singha. What's more? MTV, in this season, is upping the ante by giving the ultimate power to women to get the men to do what they want. So gear up for the biggest treat as the ninth season of Splitsvilla goes on air on Saturday, 11th June at 7pm, only on MTV.

 

Hailing female power in every sense, MTV Splitsvilla 9, an amalgam of love and power-play, gives more power to women with its new theme, 'Where Women Rule'. Giving the reins of the kingdom to six princesses, fifteen warriors will set out to fend off rival suitors, ensuring survival of the fittest in the kingdom of love. Adding a delicate blend of tradition and modernity to the royal theme, the show has been shot in the wealth of elegant buildings and churches in the colonial white town of Pondicherry where the warriors will employ the art of modern chivalry to impress their potential love interest, the kingdom's princesses.

Maharashtrian Power Walk by celebs for a cause helping students of NIFT Institute

The students of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Mumbai were filled with excitement to showcase their recently created collections. They were s were thrilled to showcase garments that focused on the revival of Maharashtrian culture through art and craft along with some other dying art & weaving forms.

Renowned artists from various fields had encouraged the efforts of these students by adorning garments styled by them. These include Ms. Renuka Shahane (Actor), Mr. Ashutosh Gowariker (Actor, Director, Writer), Mr. Sandip Soparrkar (Dance Expert and Choreographer), Mr. Harsha Bhogle (Cricket Commentator), Ms.Sonali Kulkarni (Actor),  Ms. Geetanjali Kulkarni (Actor), Mr. Bharat Dabholkar (Actor), Dr. Sandesh Mayekar (Dental Surgeon), Dr. Shivani Mayekar (Cosmetic Surgeon), the show was introduced by Ms. Shobha De, and Ms. Amruta Fadnavis wife of Mr. Devendra  Fadnavis, Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra was the show-showstopper in the event for students. Among the guest who supported these students were Mr. Hemant Trivedi (Designer), Mr. Narendra Kumar (Designer), Ms. Nilima Singh (Director of NIFT Institute), Ms. Dolly Thakore (Theater Personality) , Ms. Penaz Masani (Ghazal Singer), Durga Jasraj (Classical singer), Shaina NC, Vandana Kohli (Board of governor NIFT), Mickey Mehta (fitness expert), Mr. Sudhir Tripathi (IAS Director General, NIFT) and Noah Jacob (owner of John louis menswear), and  Sonia Sethi (Joint Secretary of SCZCC).

The driving force behind doing this project was Director of NIFT Mumbai, Ms. Nilima Singh who has inspired the students to create collection based on their trips to the various clusters in Maharashtra, where these handloom and art forms still exist. The textiles and styles were the mark of Indian heritage and class which have been overshadowed by western influence. The faculty members and students had together worked to revive these traditions and style. 

This year was also special because according to India Today magazine NIFT Institute was considered as the 2nd best fashion Institute. The culmination of all their efforts had come together in the form of the "Maharashtrian Power Walk".

This year the theme was more concentrated on revival on Maharashtrain culture but there were other exciting themes like Thangka Sutra (Thangka paintings of Buddhist/Tibetan origin), garments in western silhouettes, knitwear, banjara inspired theme to name a few.

After observing and learning about various handloom clusters in the state, students displayed their skills, style and creativity through inspirations from them. The mesmerizing collections included Kosa silk draped fusion ensembles, hand painted Warli motifs on denim capes, Khand blouses, Paithani motifs, and divergent form of Kolhapuri leather accessories like platform shoes and bags. Students were enthusiastic to put forward these collections.

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has announced the 17th Edition of the most spectacular celebration of Indian Cinema worldwide that will occur in the capital city of Madrid, Spain from 23rd – 26th June this year!

 

IIFA Rocks has always been a star-studded affair with a mix of fashion, music and dance. It is a celebrated global event that has been growing each year. To reveal some of the exciting details about the upcoming Videocon d2h IIFA Weekend, Bollywood's superstar Salman Khan was joined by versatile actor Anil Kapoor who together shared their excitement about the IIFA celebrations being held in Spain end-June. The two friends were joined by leading lady Shilpa Shetty, young icons Tiger Shroff, Abhay Deol and Sooraj Pancholi. Music sensations Meet Brothers, Kanika Kapoor, Monali Thakur, and Benny Dayal too joined the media event to share their joy about performing at the IIFA ROCKS in Madrid. Among the star-studded line-up are also dance sensations Elli Avram and Daisy Shah (the leading lady of Salman Khan's Jai Ho).

 

This year, the IIFA Rocks stage will include noted music director-composer-singer Pritam who is performing with Spanish artistes as a once-in-a-lifetime on-stage production. Held at JW Marriot, Sahara Mumbai, the event witnessed the presence of world renowned Chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand where he gave an inspirational speech on 'What it Takes to Be a World Champion'.

 

He shared his journey right from getting introduced to chess at the age of 6 till becoming the Grandmaster. He said, "I had to wait for 3 years to achieve my goal. I kept missing winning the Grandmaster title consecutively for 2 years but I was determined about my game; and then I managed to bag the title with sheer patience & tenacity. Similarly, you'll have many quiet years during your struggle, but there will be a day where you would see your efforts paying off well."

Dance Guru Sandip Soparrkar is training Bigg Boss 8 contestant Sonali Raut and internationally acclaimed Dunno Y fame actor, Yuvraaj Parashar for a passionate salsa dance number for the most awaited web series, Love Life & Screw Ups!!! Sandip Soparrkar who rarely choreographs for films, agreed to be part of this song as he fell in love with the concept of the series. Also the vibrant energy of both the actors inspired him to compose some really difficult but fresh and never seen dance steps for both of them. According to the writer and director Kapil Kaustubh Sharma, it is an intense romantic and passionate salsa dance number, which leads to love making between Sonali and Yuvraaj. In the series, Yuvraaj is playing a salsa dance teacher and Sonali his student. Sonali, who debuted in films with Himesh Reshamiya's Exposed is very excited to join the ensemble cast of this series. Yuvraaj has been under rigorous weight training, as in this song he is going to bare his torso.


Incidentally, yesteryears diva, Zeenat Aman is making her debut on digital with this series. It also stars Mita Vashisht, Dolly Thakore, Kapil Kaustubh Sharma, Diandra Soares, Sushant Divgikar, Akshay Sethi along with new faces Vibhoutee Sharma, Sezal Sharma, Rj Shadab Khan, Shipra Kasana, Mahi Sharma, Ashish Khatri, Ashish Sachdeva, Umesh Pherwani, Riyaz Qureshi and Ruchita Tahiliani. Music is by Nikhil Kamath. Bappi Lahiri has composed a peppy track for the series.

It is a feel good romantic comedy about relationships. The look is grand and glamorous. It is Bollywood's first web series with huge production values and popular actors. In the social networking sites, there is already a curiosity about it. The first look of the series will be launched in New York in June.

TE3N trailer begins with a shot of a forlorn looking Amitabh Bachchan sitting in front of a tape recorder listening to the voice of his little granddaughter Angel playing from a cassette. Angel is heard saying, 'I should have listened to you.' The trailer then makes a zip, zap, zoom into giving us a sneak peak of the movie. The fast paced trailer tells us the story of Angel's mysterious disappearance and how eight years later the same pattern is repeated this time through the disappearance of another young girl child. 

The trailer devotes enough time to each three lead actors namely Big B, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan. While Big B is his usual brilliant self, Nawazuddin dons a priest's avatar and one can be guaranteed of enough thrills from the pint sized actor. Vidya, who will be returning to the big screen after a long time, looks measured in her approach as a cop.

Indian and international models sashayed down the ramp in Triumph's latest collection for 2016. Also showcased were fabulous lace variants in Triumph's popular and innovative Body MakeupTM and Magic WireTM series. The fashion show was hosted by actress, model, and VJ Nauheed Cyrusi and choreographed by Rashmi Virmani.
